I had an xl. Purchased both the macro and an extra p365 grip module to experiment a bit. I tried the macro slide and xl slide on the xl grip, and was very impressed with the macro's reduced recoil. Yes, the recoil of X-Macro is noticeably less, the hype is true. That said, the X-Macro is also noticeably larger than the the P365XL and a lot larger than the P365X. The question you need to ask yourself is if you are going to use it primarily for range or self defense. If it's range, go with the X-Macro. For self defense, go with the P365XL.
The Sig P365 is a complete standout gun in its class in both capacity and recoil control whereas I don't get that impression from the Sig P365 XL. IMO, it is more important to be able to shoot a gun vs carrying size. The X-Macro shoots like a bigger gun, but is smaller vs compacts, and larger than a micro.

By popular demand I finally got my hands on a sig p365 xl and I put it against the cr920!
The WC grip angle will be more 1911ish, and again ever so slightly thinner than the hogue while offering just a bit more backstrap which personally, for me I needed if I wanted to get my support hand on the gun. Personally for me the Wilson Grip was a no brainer. This is what I was working with initially.Bigger gun. The XL is slightly larger, with a half-inch longer barrel, compared to the original P365. The added length doesn't hurt concealability at all. However, it does help in accuracy a bit with an increased sight radius. The XL model is .8 inches longer, as well as the additional height and bulk of the optic. That should have made an impact, but it would seem some magic dust got mixed in by the engineering department. Which then leads to another problem. If the XL model carried just as well, could it possibly be a better gun than the regular P365?
